There’s nothing more quintessentially Ontarian than a butter tart, and nothing more powerful than the national media storm that grabbed hold of our gathering of 36 bakeries under one promotional roof – Kawarthas Northumberland Butter Tart Tour. The Globe and Mail, Macleans and CBC all ran with the story like a drippy butter tart. This initiative was the grand prize winner of the “Best Tourism Marketing Initiative under $25000″ as presented by the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation (OTMPC). The campaign was also named a finalist for “Best Tourism Interactive Marketing Award” by OTMPC, “Best Culinary Leadership” and “Best Culinary Experience” by Ontario Culinary Tourism Association (OCTA); and “Tourism Innovator of the Year” by the Travel Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO).
